The Board of Directors are delighted to announce that they have appointed Davie Irons as Manager of the Club.

Davie takes up his post immediately, taking control of all 1^st Team matters. He will be appointing his backroom staff over the course of the next few days.

The Board has carried out numerous interviews over the last week or so and they are certain that they have appointed the correct person for the job.

Davie’s playing and managerial career has spanned 30 years, playing and managing clubs mainly in the higher echelons of the Scottish Football League, as can be seen in his career stats.

Davie began his career with Queen of the South in 1979 aged 18 years. After one year he moved into junior football playing with Kello Rovers where he remained for four years. He then signed for Ayr United in 1984 and went on to make 75 league appearances scoring 12 goals.

In 1987 he spent a year with Clydebank and made 54 appearances and scored 7 goals.

Davie signed for Dunfermline Athletic in 1988 making 106 appearances scoring 9 times for them.

He signed for Partick Thistle in 1991 and remained there for two years before joining St. Johnstone in 1993. During his three years with them he made 52 appearances scoring twice.

In season 1996-97 Davie returned for a second spell with Clydebank.

Davie had his first taste of management spending five years with Annan Athletic as their player-manager between 1997 and 2002.

He moved to Gretna in 2002 where he finished his playing career in 2005.

Davie became Assistant Manager to Rowan Alexander at Gretna in 2005. He became Manager in 2006 until he resigned in February 2008 leading Gretna to promotion to the Premier League during season 2006-07.

Davie was manager of Greenock Morton from February 2008 until September 2009. He took them to their highest place in the 1^st Division in many years during season 2008-09.

Davie joined South of Scotland league side Threave Rovers as a player/coach in September 2009 until taking over as Assistant Manager at Partick Thistle for a short spell in January 2010.Davie returned to Threave Rovers as Player/Coach and became the oldest player to play in a Scottish Cup match at the age of 49, when on 20 November 2010 he played for Threave in a 2-2 draw against us.
