Stenhousemuir make the short trip to the Indodrill Stadium on Saturday as they face local rivals Alloa Athletic in William Hill League One, with a 3pm kick-off on 27 December.
The Warriors head into the festive derby buoyed by a huge 1-0 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle before Christmas. Olly Whyte proved the match-winner at Ochilview, his 65th-minute strike slipping through the legs of the Inverness goalkeeper to secure all three points for Gary Naysmith’s side.
Alloa, meanwhile, come into the contest following a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Hamilton Academical. Scott Robinson’s 25th-minute effort was enough to separate the sides on the day, handing the Wasps a frustrating afternoon.
The league table adds extra spice to Saturday’s encounter, with Alloa sitting just two points behind Stenhousemuir in third place. With both sides firmly in the promotion mix, the outcome at the Indodrill Stadium could prove significant as the season enters its second half.
The last meeting between the sides at the Indodrill Stadium ended goalless, despite Stenhousemuir enjoying the better of possession for much of the 90 minutes. Saturday’s derby presents another opportunity for the Warriors to assert themselves against close rivals and continue their strong run of form.
