  • Match Report | vs Clyde

Clyde and Stenhousemuir played out a 2-2 draw at New Douglas Park with goals for Robbie Leitch and Barry Cuddihy for Clyde and for Stenhousemuir, Edin Lynch and Jordan Kirkpatrick.

The champions travelled to Hamilton to take on Clyde in the cinch league two. Gary Naysmith named four changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Elgin City last week. Curtis Lyle, Edin Lynch, Adam Brown and Matty Aitken all came in for Stenhousemuir. They replaced Darren Jamieson, Ben Stirling, Ross Meechan and Matty Yates.

Clyde opened the scoring after just 7 minutes. Robbie Leitch was found a space in between the warrior’s midfield and defence after a backheel by Jaze Kabia. Leitch was then able to drive forward and calmly slot the ball past Lyle in the Stenhousemuir goal

Stenhousemuir then had a chance to equalise through an Adam Brown free kick, however his low driven effort was well saved by Brian Kinnear.

The game then quietened down a bit with the match becoming a midfield battle. Neither side were able to have any clear-cut chances.

Towards the end of the half Stenhousemuir had a couple of really nice moves both of which involved linkup play between Jordan Kirkpatrick and Ross Taylor. However, neither of the moves amounted to anything.

Edin Lynch got an equaliser just before half time. Adam Browns whipped corner was met by Edin Lynch who swung a leg at the ball and guided into the bottom left corner past Brian Kinnear to level the match at the break.

Stenhousemuir had the first chance of the second half when Jordan Kirkpatrick had a long range shot from distance however it went over the bar.

Stenhousemuir got their noses in front on the 66-minute mark. Jordan Kirkpatrick picked up the ball just outside the 18-yard box and unleashed a powerful strike that fired past Kinnear into the bottom left corner to get his first goal for the Warriors.

Clyde reacted instantly and equalised in the 70th minute. Kian Leslie played in Barry Cuddihy in the box, and he was able to get a good shot away past Lyle and level the match.

The match then died down a bit after a frantic ten minutes with the tempo being delayed with multiple stoppages for injuries and subs.

Clyde pushed for a winner late on but came up against a resolute Stenhousemuir defence and were unable to get a winner.

The champions now move onto next week where they face Bonnyrigg Rose and will be presented with the trophy at Ochilview.
