Stenhousemuir FC were delighted to receive notice that Warriors In The Community has received recognition by the Scottish Parliament. There was a motion tabled from Michelle Thomson, Member of the Scottish Parliament for Falkirk East Constituency who said;
“I was delighted to table this motion in the Scottish Parliament to congratulate you on all the hard work that has gone into your community outreach. Learning of the various initiatives and programmes your organisation has been involved in to support the most vulnerable within your community, I believe recognition in Parliament is rightfully deserved.”
Warriors In The Community received recognition for it’s community outreach with the recent launch of the Winter Warm Initiative, operating from the Tryst Community Centre, Stenhousemuir, where local people are welcomed and supported in a warm and friendly space being at the forefront of discussion.
The club’s Community Help Initiative, formed during the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, was also mentioned, with the community section involved in the SPFL Trust’s Festive Friends. The CHI assisted over 350 households, delivered over 3500 meals and carried out over 2500 shopping trips alongside activities such as befriending and dog walking.
WITC operates a number of sporting and non-sporting activities aimed at increasing participation in sport across all age ranges and genders, including the award-winning Mental Health Football programme. The partnership with Andy’s Man Club assists local men in
having a supportive space to find peer-to-peer support around challenging topics, such as depression and suicide.
The Scottish Parliament congratulates and thanks all involved in Warriors in the Community for their continued efforts to assist others, and wishes them every success for the future.
