The Warriors welcome a familiar opponent of late, East Fife back to Ochilview. You only have to go back 14 days since the Fifers last visit to FK5 which resulted in a home win which set up Stenhousemuir with a visit to Highland League side Formartine United in the 3rd round of Scottish Cup.

The 5th November is a date that will be etched the memories of many Stenhousemuir fans. It was on this in 1995 that The Warriors won The Challenge Cup, defeating Dundee United on penalties in the final. And if The Warriors’ fans are looking for any other lucky omens, twice we have played East Fife on 5th November with 2 victories, 6 goals for and 3 against.

East Fife have had somewhat of a mini revival, at least in the league, over the last few weeks, winning their last 3 cinch League Two matches. Their last league defeat at the hands of The Warriors proved to be Stevie Crawford’s last game in charge as he moved on to join the management team at Dundee United.

Since then, they’ve taken 9 points from 12 with only red hot Stirling Albion taking points off the league’s 3rd placed team.

This will be the third meeting beside the clubs in just a matter of weeks with The Warriors coming up victorious each time with matching 2-1 victories. The website caught up with Swifty this week to ask how he feels about a repeat visit from East Fife just 2 weeks after the previous encounter.

“I always find it difficult when you play teams so frequently because they know a lot about you, and you’re trying to second guess them. But, we know they’ve got quality. The boy Jack Healy and João Baldé have got real pace in the wide areas and Scott Shepherd is good over the top and they’ve got a real dig and presence in Kieran Millar in midfield.

“So they’re a right good side and they’ve won 3 in a row in the league and they’re on a right good run. We just need to make sure that we look at what we’ve done to them in the passed and try and implement that again and get 3 points.

“There’s no one game in this league that’s easy, as we seen on Saturday against Albion Rovers, they’re all tough and Saturday will be no different. We know exactly what they’re all about and they know what we’re all about, so it’s got the makings of a decent game.”

After a loss to Stirling and draw with Albion Rovers, it’s important that we get back on a winning streak, and Swifty agrees.

“It’s a bit frustrating and I genuinely don’t think we should’ve lost against Stirling. It was a bit of a sucker punch at the end. But, we did, and we wanted to bounce back. But, unfortunately, on the day I thought that Albion Rovers were very good. On the day, we could’ve nicked it at the end and we could’ve won it, but it was a weird game because they could’ve won it too. So we’ll just go and take the positives and hopefully we can get some players back. You’ve got to remember that as well, we’ve been struggling with that, so hopefully we’ll get a couple back this week that will help the cause.”

Scott Walker and Nicky Jamieson will be missing for Saturday’s match. However, both Sean Crighton and Callum Yeats are both likely to make a welcome return to the squad.
