Stenhousemuir are back on the road quickly as they look to get to winning ways against Stirling Albion.
Results have gone Stirling Albion’s way so far this season, with 2 victories for The Binos.
The last meeting between the sides back on 2d January was Stirling’s last victory and have bounced between losses and draws ever since with 3 draws and 3 losses in their last 6.
Stenhousemuir, on the other hand, have been enjoying a good run of form with 3 wins and 2 draws in the last 5 games.
The Warriors certainly have an eye on the final playoff place being 3 points behind Edinburgh City, albeit with a game in hand and a match against the capital side coming up next week. Indeed victory for The Warriors on Saturday along with a loss for The Citizens would propel Stenhousemuir into 4th place, with the position in our own hands.
With the game on Wednesday, it meant that there was no usual Thursday night training session to give the boys time to recover. Warriors TV spoke to Stephen Swift about how we’ve been able to prepare for this weekend’s fixture.
“The biggest thing to prepare for this match is rest and recovery. We’ve given the boys a plan to take away and follow and it’s up to them to adhere to that and hopefully we can get the legs rested up so that we can go again on Saturday.“
And with the games coming thick and fast, there are opportunities to rest players and keep players fresh given the size of the squad.
“Edinburgh was a decent performance. We couldn’t take the maximum points, but a lot of positives to take. Stirling Albion is different game. You can’t keep playing the same team, however, the players have been performing well. There is room for thought in my mind to change it up and me and the coaching staff will be meeting up today [Friday] to discuss the options on whether we stick with the same team or add a bit of freshness to it.”
With out game in hand against Kelty aside, we’re now into the final quarter of the season with 1 game left against each side. We asked Swifty on his summary for the remaining 9 games.
“The last 9 games are going to be very tough. Every team in the league has an agenda. To make sure they’re away from relegation, or trying to get into the playoffs. So there’s always stuff to play and we’re no different. We’re in the mix where we need to be. So these last 9 games are so vital to our season. The good news is that we’ve built up a bit of momentum. We look as if we’re in a bit of form and if we can sustain that, then I’d imagine we’d be there or there about come the end of the season.“
Kick off is at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, with pay at the gate in operation.
