Warriors 2-0 Annan Athletic
It was another home game for the Warriors this week as Annan Athletic travelled to Ochilview. Annan had been soaring in the table prior to the Warriors picking up their first win of the season at Galabank a few months back and had since gone on a poor run of form which could see the Warriors move to just a point off the Galloway side with a win.
The first chance of the game fell to the Warriors as O’Reilly did well down the left hand side to swing in a cross that evaded everyone in the middle. It came to Christie at the back post who was able to get a shot away under pressure but Fleming saved well with his feet.
The Warriors looked to be the better of the two sides but had to wait till the 30th minute for their next sight at goal. A corner was headed off the line by the Annan defence only for Orr to be brought down in the box only seconds later resulting in a penalty being awarded. Brown stepped up and sent Fleming the wrong way as he stroked the ball into the right bottom coner of the net for 1-0.
The Warriors came out in the second half right up for it and instantly had Annan on the back foot with O’Reilly terrorising them down the left. One of his numerous dangerous crosses was met by Hughes 12 yards out with the midfielder looking set to score, however his volley flashed just wide of the left post.
As the half went on, the Warriors continued to play the better football, however almost saw themselves concede an equaliser in the 73rd minute. Annan got the ball wide and swung in a cross to the back post where the header on target, which seemed to be destined to go over the line, was clawed away superbly by David Wilson. Possibly the save of the season.
Annan began to turn up the pressure on the Warriors as the pushed to find an equalising goal. Despite this, the Warriors held firm and limited the visitors to nothing clear cut.
The Warriors then put the game to bed with a second goal in the 79th minute as Tierney played the ball into O’Reilly inside the Annan box. The winger then beat his man and slotted it past Fleming to the delight of the young Warriors fans behind the goals.
This left the boys with a comfortable ten minutes to see out in order to secure the win which they did no problems whatsoever. The 2-0 win means the Warriors have now won five consecutive matches and are only one point behind Annan, and the playoff places, in the table.

Saturday 3pm – Kelty Hearts (A)
This Saturday the Warriors are away from home as they travel up to Fife to take on Kelty hearts at New Central Park.
It may be first versus fifth in the table, however it’s a contest between the two most in form teams in the division. It’s absolutely mouth-watering.
Kelty have won 4 of their last 5 and will be full of confidence given the fact they defeated the Warriors 4-1 back in August. The Warriors have won 5 on the bounce and to keep that run going they will have to do what no League 2 side has done so far this seasons and that’s beat Kelty.
A win for the Warriors could see them rise to 4th or even as high as 3rd, if other results go our way. Three points would also put some breathing space between us and Edinburgh City. Kelty on the other hand will be looking to preserve or extend their 10 point lead in the table by securing maximum points.
It’s a huge game for the Warriors and they need our support! So if you can, get yourself up to Kelty for this one. It’s not to be missed!

Ladies latest
Last time out – Warriors 1-5 Edinburgh City
Sadly for the Warriors last Sunday’s SWF Championship South fixture against second place Edinburgh City would end in a disappointing result.
Despite the score line, the ladies did show encouraging levels of work and desire which is promising for future matches.
It was always going to be a tough ask when the Warriors found themselves 2-0 down after 20 minutes. They were back in the game briefly however through a Montgomery goal on 41 minutes, only for Edinburgh to score a third just before the break.
Into the second half and another big moment failed to go the Warriors way as they weren’t quite able to turn home an excellent chance which would have no doubt changed the game. The visitors would go on to grab a further two goals and secure what was in the end a deserved victory.

Next up (Sunday 2pm) – Gleniffer Thistle (A)
This weekend the Warriors are back on the road for their latest SWF Championship South fixture as they take on Gleniffer Thistle.
The Warriors will be eying up all three points from this one given Gleniffer’s position as bottom of the table with no points. A win for the home side would see them move to just one point behind Airdrie. Whereas a win for the Warriors will see them climb to at least 14th in the table.
The match is 2pm this Sunday at the Ralston Sports Centre, so get yourself along and cheer on the ladies in what is a massive game in the context of their season!
