Cowdenbeath 0-2 Warriors
Back on Saturday the Warriors travelled to Fife for a massive 6 pointer with Cowdenbeath, who were level on points with the Warriors ahead of the match.
The importance of the game wasn’t lost on the boys as they started off the better of the two sides. Their start very quickly went from good to excellent as they opened the scoring in the 6th minute. O’Reilly surged into the hosts penalty area from the left hand side before playing the ball low and hard across goal only for it to be turned into his own net by Craig Thomson.
This spurred the Warriors on further as they continued to dominate and cause problems for the Cowdenbeath defence. Brown came close to doubling the lead after a quick Thomson freekick played him in, however his effort was dragged slightly wide of the bottom left hand corner.
It was 2-0 shortly afterwards on 28 minutes as Brown turned provider, playing Thomson in with a perfect ball over the top. Thomson was then able to control the ball and shrug off one defender before his shot was deflected into the top corner by the second.
The away support were now in full voice as Thomson nearly grabbed a third but his effort was turned behind by Gill at the front post leaving the Warriors two goals in front going into the break.
The second half almost started better than the first with the Warriors coming close after just one minute. Miller drove in a low cross which came off a defender and almost found its way into the net.
Despite this, our hosts then did begin to come into the game a bit more and started to create some half chances of their own. O’Connor came close before Barr smashed a long distance effort off of the Warriors crossbar.
In the 78th minute O’Reilly could have grabbed the goal that his performance deserved. He was played through one on one with Gill through a long ball however his shot was straight at the Cowdenbeath keeper.
By this point the Warriors had regained their control of the game and were slowing it down at every opportunity. The later stages were managed well by the boys as they held out to secure a huge 3 points. The win sees us move 3 points clear of Cowdenbeath and also leapfrog Elgin in the table.

Saturday 3pm – Huntly (H)
This Saturday the Warriors are back at Ochilview as we turn our attention to the Scottish Cup as we host Highland League side Huntly for our second round tie.
The Warriors will go into the game full of confidence following last weekend’s victory over Cowdenbeath as they look to secure their passage to the next round of the cup. Standing in their way is a Huntly side who sit 10th in the Highland League despite boasting 7 titles over the years.
The sides have only previously met on one occasion with the Warriors running out 3-1 winners. Hopefully we’ll see more of the same this time round!
Pay at the gate is in operation for both home and away supporters, however tickets can also be purchased in advance via FanBase (https://app.fanbaseclub.com/Fan/Dashboard). Tickets are £5 for under 16s, £9 for concessions and £14 for adults.

Ladies latest
Last time out – St. Mirren 1-5 Warriors
Back on Sunday the ladies team were able to pull off an outstanding performance away to St. Mirren which saw them secure their first league win of the season, completing a terrific weekend of results for the club.
First half the Warriors seemed slightly cagey, however manged to get themselves into a 2-0 lead through goals from Ralston and Wilson. Despite this, the buddies pulled a goal back on the 43rd minute, leaving the game in the balance at half time.
The second half saw one of the best performances of the season from the ladies as they tore St. Mirren apart. McPhee converted a penalty before Montgomery and Maguire scored to complete a 5 star performance.
The result sees the Warriors climb above St. Mirren into 14th in the table.

Next up – Renfrew Ladies (Sunday 2:30pm)
Next up for the ladies is another SWF Championship South fixture as the Warriors welcome Renfrew Ladies to Ochilview.
This will be a tough test for the Warriors given the fact that Renfrew lead the table having gone the season unbeaten so far. However the Warriors will be full of confidence after their recent result against St. Mirren. Renfrew on the other hand have won two on the bounce after a 1-1 draw with Ayr united.

Wire Star is Warriors lucky charm
Some of you will have no doubt spotted the tweet of support last week from arguably the clubs most famous supporter Isiah Whitlock Jr. Yep that’s right, the American actor who is best known for his role in hit TV show the Wire is a Warriors just like us!
Isiah told the boys to get it done against Cowdenbeath and it must’ve struck home because the boys certainly delivered!
