To many people, not just in the local area, Stenhousemuir FC is synonymous with extensive community support work. It’s simply just part of who we are as a club to be there to look after those in need in our community.
It’s been well publicised in recent months how the club has been seeking to launch a brand new charitable organisation with the aim of enhancing the club’s positive impact on the local community. It wasn’t long ago that Fionna Kennedy was appointed to oversee this project and we are delighted to confirm that we now have official charity status and are ready to progress to the next phase of our plan.
In order to maximize the impact of our new charity, the club is looking to recruit individuals to take on various positions on the board of trustees. Afterall, the success of any organisation is only determined by the strength of the team that is behind it.

Last time out
Warriors 3-0 Dundee United B
Tuesday night saw the visit of Dundee United’s B team to Ochilview as the Warriors kicked off their SPFL Trust Trophy campaign.
The visitors team was full of exciting young talent, including several faces who are currently on loan at Championship clubs and they nearly took a very early lead after a cut back fell to Walker inside the box but his effort was tipped over the bar well by Wilson.
The Warriors were next to come close to getting the opener in the 26th minute as O’Reilley broke at pace down the right hand side. His cross picked out Tierney just outside the 6 yard box, however he will be disappointed with his effort which went straight into the arms of the keeper.
Despite this, we did get the breakthrough on 30 minutes when during the second phase of a freekick, the ball fell to Orr inside the box. He played it low and hard across goal, where after a ricochet, the ball fell to Jamieson who made no mistake with the finish.
The Warriors were now well on top and grabbed a second in the 36th minute. Orr played a switch out to Christie on the right who then played it to the overlapping Ross Lyon, who’s deep cross was knocked back across goal where Tierney was waiting to tap over the line.
The half got worse for United just before the break as Orr was played through on goal and was then consequently tripped by Hutchinson. The Youngster was then shown a red card by the referee, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.
The Warriors remained on top going into the second half, playing some good football but without really creating any major chances. United did also show an occasional threat on the counter attack.
The game was over as a contest after 77 minutes as Cammy Graham produced a goal of the season contender to make it 3-0. He picked the ball up on the right hand side, before stepping inside and curling a left footed effort into the far top hand corner of the net.
United, to their credit, refused to crumble and created several chances late on. Craig Reid cleared off the line with his head excellently at one point to preserve the clean sheet.
Overall it was a really positive performance from the boys, which sees us progress to play Cove Rangers in the next round of the cup and sets us up nicely for our league encounter with Edinburgh tomorrow.

Albion Rovers 2-2 Warriors
Back on Saturday, the Warriors made the trip to Coatbridge to face Albion Rovers in our first away game of the Cinch League 2 season as the boys also searched to put their first points on the board.
The opening exchanges were cagey, with few clear-cut chances for either side. The first half chance for the Warriors fell to Thomson in the 16th minute as he got his head onto the end of a Forbes freekick, however the header ended up straight at the keeper.
The boys came close again shortly after, also from a Forbes freekick. This time, being a lot closer to goal, Forbes went for the shot and got a fair amount of venom behind the strike but once again it was straight down the throat of Binnie in the Rovers goal, who was able to parry clear.
On 29 minutes, the ground erupted as the home support were certain that they should have been awarded a penalty. Crighton failed to deal with a long ball, allowing Byrne through on goal before he went to ground just inside the box. Fortunately for the Warriors the referee saw nothing in the challenge and play continued.
The home side should however have taken the lead before half time as Wedderburn lost possession in the defensive third, allowing Docherty to take it past Jamieson, only to place his effort just shy of Marshalls left hand post.
The scoreline remained 0-0 till half time, with the Warriors seeing the better of the play but needing to tighten up at the back and just find that final pass in attack.
The second half couldn’t have gotten off to much of a worse start for the boys as Albion took the lead. Roberts was slipped through on 49 minutes, before finishing low across Marshall’s goal and in off the far post.
The heavens then began to downpour in Coatbridge just as the Warriors rallied and began to put on the pressure. The equaliser came in the 63rd minute after some patient build-up play, saw Wedderburn dink a fantastic ball in behind the Rovers defence into the path of Orr who poked home in off the bar.
It didn’t take long to complete the turnaround and 6 minutes later it was 2-1 to the Warriors. Jamieson played a stunning switch out to Christie on the right who controlled and sent an excellent ball into the back post area where Thomson was waiting to nod home.
The boys then began to dominate even further and could have put the game to bed as O’Reilly stole the ball inside the Albion box before his goal bound effort was tipped wide by Binnie.
It looked like the Warriors were home and dry, however Rovers hit back with a sucker punch in the 90th minute to make it 2-2. The Warriors failed to clear, resulting in the ball falling to David Wilson 20 yards out, before he curled a sensational effort into the top corner.
The Warriors showed some good football and picked up their first point of the season, however made it difficult for themselves at times and will be disappointed to not have picked up all 3 points, especially having been in the lead so late on.

Onto the next
Friday 7:45pm – Edinburgh City (A)
The games are coming thick and fast for Swifty’s team at the moment as we travel to Ainslie Park to face Edinburgh City to play our third match in six days. Please note the 7:45pm kick off on Friday evening as opposed to usual 3pm on a Saturday.
The Warriors will be looking to build on two positive performances against Albion Rovers and Dundee United B as we look to get the first league win of the season required to build momentum and confidence.
Standing in our way is an Edinburgh City side that finished second in last season’s league table. Despite this, the Warriors have defeated City in two of the previous three encounters and will do all they can to continue this form against our opposition.
City will be keen to break their poor form that has seen losses to Albion Rovers and Forfar drag them to the foot of the table. However, a win for the home side, will see them leapfrog the Warriors.
Both home and away fans are welcome to attend the fixture and can purchase their tickets via FanBase (https://app.fanbaseclub.com/Account/Login)in advance of kick-off. Tickets are priced at £14 for adults, £9 for concessions and under 12’s go free with a paying adult. There will be no pay at the gate in operation for this match.

Get along to Ochilview this Sunday to support local ladies football!
Last weekend the ladies team’s league season got underway as they kicked off their SWF Championship campaign away to Rossvale. Although the result didn’t go in favour of the Warriors, the girls will be confident about their ability to bounce back this weekend as we play our first home game of the competitive season!
We are delighted to confirm that not only is our match this Sunday against Livingston WFC open to all supporters, but admission into the game is free of charge. So if you’re not doing anything why not get yourself along to support the Warriors and help to promote local ladies football! Kick-off is at 2:30pm at Ochilview and the game will also be streamed live for free on Warriors TV.

Jon Craig signs for the Warriors!
Earlier this week, the club confirmed yet another summer signing, with Kilmarnock youngster Jon Craig joining up on loan. The 17 year old left back will spend the coming season at Ochilview as he looks to get some valuable playing experience under his belt, all the while helping the Warriors to achieve our footballing objectives.
Having already impressed during his debut against Dundee United B on Tuesday night, we have no doubts that Jon will make a success of his time with us and we are delighted to have him on board. Welcome to the Warriors!
